Overview
Kelsey Hunt counsels insurers in connection with coverage issues and disputes arising under general liability, cyber, professional liability, and directors and officers policies. Kelsey has represented insurers in a variety of complex coverage litigation, obtaining favorable rulings on motions to dismiss and summary judgment and helping defend those rulings on appeal. Kelsey’s experience includes the interpretation of policy provisions, such as “other insurance” and “allocation” clauses, the application of various policy exclusions, and the defense of bad-faith claims.

- Secured summary judgment for a D&O insurer in Wyoming federal court on the grounds that an insured versus insured exclusion barred coverage for a shareholder class action proceeding brought by a former director. Tri County Tel. Ass’n, Inc. v. Twin City Fire Ins. Co., No. 24-cv-274 (D. Wyo. Jan. 12, 2026).
- Prevailed on motion to dismiss complaint brought in Florida federal court on the grounds that a professional-services exclusion barred coverage for underlying judgment arising from insured’s faulty DNA analysis. Speckin Forensics, LLC v. Twin City Fire Ins. Co., 2025 WL 2598396 (S.D. Fla. Aug. 8, 2025).
- Represented insurer in securing dismissal with prejudice of a contribution suit brought by a competing carrier in New York federal court, resulting in a decision reinforcing established rules governing priority of coverage amongst insurers. Zurich Ins. Co. Ltd. (UK Branch) v. XL Specialty Ins. Co., No. 24-cv-8342 (S.D.N.Y. Feb. 11, 2026).
